Your home. Your choice. Your care.
Boston Senior Home Care commemorated its 35th Anniversary on Thursday, November 12, 2009 with a celebration at the Marriott Custom House in Boston. In addition to highlighting our 35 years of service to Boston’s low income elders, Boston Senior Home Care’s goal for this event was to raise awareness of our home care services and special programs, as well as funding for our Client Discretionary Fund, which provides our elders with assistance with such items as food, clothing, bedding, furnishings, transportation, medicine and utility costs when no other means of support exist.

Close to 200 people attended the event which featured a live and silent auction, hors d’oeuvres with a cash bar, and music by the Tony Gallo Trio. Several State officials were in attendance including Senator Sonia Chang-Diaz, who presented Boston Senior Home Care with a Citation from Governor Deval Patrick in recognition of its 35 years of service, and Representative Aaron Michlewitz, who made a special presentation to one of BSHC’s consumers from the North End who turned 102 on December 3, 2009.

A trip for two to St. Marteen with airfare and accommodations, 4 tickets to the March 15th Celtics/Pistons game with transportation to and from the game and dinner in the North End; Fenway Park Tour passes, a North Shore getaway package –including passes to the Cape Ann Museum, an overnight breakfast stay at the Emerson Inn by the Sea in Rockport and dinner at Passport’s Restaurant in Gloucester; Red Sox tickets, a Golf Foursome at Blue Hills Country Club including lunch, 18 holes of golf; and brunch for 2 at the Boston Harbor Hotel are just a few of the items that were auctioned at the event. The highlight of the evening was a basketball signed by all the Boston Celtics and donated by Jim Pallotta, which raised $2000!

Due to the overwhelming support we received from our friends, sponsors, and auction donors, Boston Senior Home Care exceeded its fundraising for the event goal by 30% and raised a total of $65,000. Thanks to all who attended for being part of our special celebration and for helping to make our event a huge success.
