WHEN TEMPERATURES RISE
STAY COOL
Yes, it's here. The good weather we all wait for. The Boston Commission on Affairs of the
Elderly has sent out these friendly reminders for staying "COOL" when the heat
rises. While children and the elderly
are particularly vulnerable, EVERYONE should remember to:
v
limit activities
during very hot weather
v
drink plenty
of fluids
v
avoid beverages
that contain caffeine or alcohol
v
wear loose
clothing
v
take cool showers
or baths
v
And here's the
best part: AVOID COOKING!!
Please remember to check on your elderly neighbors. Also, don't forget your pets! They need to keep cool also, so ensure your
pets have plenty of water.
If elderly residents
experience problems, please call:
The Elderly Commission: 617-635-4366, or
The Mayor's
24 Hour hotline: 617-635-4500
